BERG EXPANDS - NEW OFFICE LOCATION IN NORTH IDAHO

COEUR D’ALENE, IDAHO – Today Berg Companies announced an expansion office opened in Coeur d’Alene, ID. This office will house the Berg Development team and will act as the official sales and marketing center for the Berg Companies.

Berg has been a longtime fixture in the Spokane area. The Berg Companies comprise some of the oldest, continuously operating businesses in the state of Washington. F.O. Berg was founded by Fredrick Oliver Berg in 1883. After the big Spokane fire of 1889, the F.O. Berg Company was credited with building the 'Tent City' that housed businesses and residences during the rebuilding process. The company has a history of growth and expansion and is continuing its legacy.

“With the US economy being as weak as it currently is, it is exciting to be working with a company that is defying the odds and thriving in this current economic climate,” said Andy Barrett, President and co-owner of Berg Companies.  “It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of the team that we have been able to survive and succeed throughout these difficult times.”

The new facility opened in downtown Coeur d’Alene, a mere thirty (30) miles from the Berg Spokane offices. The office will act as a base for the Business Development team and facilitate the development of an additional Berg facility that will be located on property that has already been obtained in Post Falls, Idaho.

This move allows Berg to apply to become a certified Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone), which is an empowerment contracting program that provides federal contracting opportunities for qualified small businesses in federally declared ‘distressed areas’.

“This certification would give us an advantage with federal contracting. It would be one more tool in our tool belt that would help Berg to spur the economic development in the area and develop jobs,” says Barrett. “I look forward to working in Northern Idaho and am optimistic that the company will succeed in the Coeur d’Alene area much like it has been succeeding in the Spokane area for over 100 years.”
